Blue Nova

I´m happy with the Nova and better yet the owner of the dress loves it too.  Not possible to get many pictures though as she was busy running around.

Yarn: Kambgarn (istex)
Pattern: Nova
needles: 3,5mm and 4 mm

And the best part is that I think I have enough yarn leftover for a sweater for the christmas girl that we are expecting.

I have however already bought more yarn for the next project and casted on last night.

Spiral Socks

My mom knitted these for my 2 year old. My 2 year old adores them, I think there are two main reasons, she can put them on and take them off her self and does so frequently  (no heel that has to be put in the right place).   I was afraid that she wouldn´t use them as they are thick and a bit itchy but it doesn´t bother her at all, she wears them directly on her skin.

pattern could be this: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spiral-knit-tube-socks
or this: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/newborn-spiral-rib-tube-sock

Pattern was something my mom had on a piece of paper , no idea where she got it from.  I think the yarn is dale baby and some other yarn.

Pearl chain mittens

I finished one pearl chain mitten, and of course made some modifications (rib). Should however also modified the thumb (it is way to wide), it was half of the stitches of the mitten.

Need to decide whether it is worth it to finish it, with the wide thumb and all...  But will definetly knit this pattern again sometime. But will not end up as a christmas present as intended... not sure if I will frog it or knit the other mitten.

Oh! baby booties

I finally finished the other bootie!

I used this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/oh-baby-baby-booties

I also finished the baby cap, I cord was way to thick so I ended up crocheting a band.

Instructions on modifications that I made to fit this yarn can be found on my ravelry page:

Newborn Cardigan - Instructions

I wanted to document how I made the baby cardigan, before I loose the piece of paper I scribbled down what I did. I used debbie bliss Rialto DK

Body:

Cast on 86 Stitches

Row 1-2: k
Row 3 (buttonhole): k accross to last 4 sts, k1, y0, k2togk1
Row 4-5: k
Row 6. k4, P accross to within 4 stitches of end k4
Row 7: k

Repeat Row 6 and 7 until 14 cm. But create buttonholes with 8 garters between (I had 9 between and, the last two buttons will be two close). Instructions for Buttonhole row is Row3.

Sleeves:

Cast on 24 stithces,

knit 3 garthers (knit 1 round, purl 1 round).  Increase in every 6th round (total of 5 times) until you have 35 stitches. Knit until 14 cm.  Put 6 stitches in the middle on scrap of yarn.

Attach the sleeves to the body :  knit 20 (6 stitches on scrap of yarn), knit 28 stitches sleeve (6 stitches on scrap of yarn), knit 34 stithces (6 stithces on scrap of yarn), knit 28 stitches sleeve (6 stitches on scrap of yarn), knit 20 stithes.  You now have 130 stitches on the needles.  Knit 2 rounds (Row 7 and 6)

Raglan decrease:
Decrase 10 times (Row 7), make sure to knit also row 6 without decreases.  In the end you will have 50 stithces.

Knit 3 garthers in the end and then Cast off.

Blackberry

My mom came earlier with this for my little beanie, I think it will fit around 3 months.

I was hoping (asking) that she would make another one just bigger for my big girl, but nope she has some other colors in mind... to bad as I really love this colour combo..  Seems that i must borrow/steal som pink yarn from her stash and buy black yarn and knit one myself

I´ve made some progress with the Nova dress
But I just started to read "Fifty shades of Gray" so I expect that there will not be much of a knitting done in the evening and more reading time clocked in.

She also knitted some lovely warm socks for my big girl, was not able to take a picture of them, she was not willing to take them off and not standing still enough for pictures... maybe next time.

Mitten mania

I made another pair of mittens with this pattern,  the third pair I have made..

They were gifted as a birthday present to a 5 year old. Used various scraps of leftover yarn.

Will probably use this pattern again and again.....    or maybe I should become more adventorous in my mitten mania...

I have made some progress with the Nova dress, but will probably not finish it in the near future.  I have so many mitten ideas.

One Sock syndrome

I have currently a case of one sock syndrome for the time being.

i finished one mitten for my 2 year old
i finished one newborn sock
i finished one tv sock

and I was planning on starting more mittens... so I decided that three was my rule for unfinished matching knitting projects... So I finished the second pair of leftover mittens. My 2 year old has been asking constantly for the other mitten, so she took them to use this morning and that´s the reason why I wasn´t able to take a picture until after they were dirty.... sorry for the "dirty picture".

But then another knitting project got in my way.. I was so going to finish all the gray/purple yarn before I bought any more. But i have been planning for a long time to knit a Nova... and I just had to go and buy a yarn for it today. Bought  kambgarn in blue:

Pants ready and a matching hat almost finished

The pants are finished,  and I have almost finished a mathcing hat.

As I´m using much thicker yarn than most baby patterns I had to adjust the hat pattern, and it seems that it will be ok, i hope it will fit...   i´m planning to add   bear-ears to it and an i-cord. The pattern for the hat I have on a piece of paper copied from somewhere and in Icelandic.  But here is very similar pattern . I had one of these as a child and I have always loved them.   Modifications that I made is: cast on 24 stitches, (12-12-7-7-12-12).

Next on the agenda is either a scarf  or mittens or maybe both if the yarn is sufficient, i don´t really feel the need for a scarf for such a little baby as they almost have no neck so I will start with the mittens and then see if i mabye do socks or scarf.

Project 12 - baby cardigan and pants

First thing I´ve knitted for my baby girl who I´m expeting.  The cardigan is ready. No pattern, measured one of a favourite shirts from my 2 year old when she was newborn and went from there.  Aparrantly made some calculation errors, so the last button is very close to the previous. But I don´t care love it anyway.  I know just need to find the right buttons.

And I decided to start on pants to go with it, I´m basing it somewhat on a drops pattern and somewhat on these modifications... well that was the idea anyway but ended up doing it totally different to make them more baggy and tighter in the waist.. and ended up going more after a pants from my 2 year old than the pattern and the modifications.

Jumpsuit turned shawl...

The jumpsuit I had planned, was just horrible.. it was so wide and uneven the knitting...  so i stopped and started on a baby-vest instead with the yarn...  was not fully happy with the project and my 2 year old made sure that I would not finish it by frogging it for me.
I was very unhappy with the yarn (dropsbabyalpacasilk)... me and this yarn are not a match made in heaven, I like my knitting to be very even :)      I almost frogged the shawl ... and one skein was even more uneven than the secend (the first) so my thought was that this shawl would never be worn. At this point I was ready to throw in the towel.

But decided to stick with it and see what happened after was,  and it got much better and the yarn is so soft and lovely. But I will never ever attempt to make any item of baby related thing with this yarn.
But me some lovely merino wool (Debbie bliss rialto) and I have started on a butterfly cardigan in newborn size.   And I´m planning on pants as well.

The pattern for the  shawl is just the traditional Icelandic Hyrna.
