Simple mittens

I saw these mittens by Merete and decided to use the same pattern, and maybe embroider them. I haven´t embellished them yet, but they are already in use. 

Yarn:  Dale baby wool (held double)

Pattern: Barnehagevotter

Needle: 2.5mm and 3 mm

Size:  1-2 year (length 3-4 years) 

I have also finished the other Christmas dress, and was planning to take both dresses out for a walk tomorrow , and take some pictures, maybe on the beach or somewhere nice.. tired of ugly pictures. But since my older daughter is sick with Chicken Pox, there are at least 7-10 days of inside activities, and there are 90% chances that my younger daughter will get sick as well... there might be some time until it will be finished. In the meantime I have started another dress, but knitting time is limited these days. 

Winter jumpsuit

I made a buttoned jumpsuit for my 3 year old, I'm not sure how wise that is, with bathroom trips that require a bit of urgency. But I had planned to make one for her when she was younger and never got around to do it yet.

Pattern:  did not use any pattern, but based the yoke on Kambur which can be found in the book "knitting with icelandic wool", which I have recommended countless times here on the blog.
Yarn: Istex Léttlopi
needles: 3.5 and 4.5mm

Bellas top

 

Pattern:  Another pattern from "Babystrik på pinde 3".-Bellas Top

Yarn: Lanett, not sure how much, had a skein that had been started and some scraps (maybe from that skein). 

Needles: 2.5mm and 3 mm

Size:  started with the 3-6months size, found out I had the width for the 9-12 month size while knitting, then when I had washed it it was more like 12-18 months old size (somewhere between 9-12 months and 18-24 months size).  It´s light and airy.

knitted for my giftdrawer, or maybe for my younger daughter.

Doll vest - no pattern, just improvised, was planning to make a cardigan, but didn´t finish it and had it laying in my knitting basket and as I was planning to use as much yarn as I could in Q1 I decided to finish it as a vest much to my toddlers appreciation.

Q1 - new years resolution status update

In total I have now 865g less of yarn  than when the year started. 

Q1 : Stash increased 1300g
Q1: Stash decreased 2165g

Plans for Q2 is to use try to use all scraps of yarn for socks- and etc and increase the amount in my gift drawer.

More wardrobe updates

The pixiehat I made for my 2 1/2 year old had widened a lot so it was not that practicale to use any more (wind in ears).  I therefore decided to pick up stitches and knit pink-orange-neon edge to close the gap.. I debated to crochet .. but was more comfortable that knitting would give me a better looking result.

First sweater of the year

I decided to start this year frugally, and knit with my stash and finish ongoing projects before I buy any more yarn.

I made a car sweater for my 2 year old. She loves car´s and pink, so she was extremely happy with the sweater.

It is not very easy to photograph a independent 2 year old, so I tried to take the sweater of her and photograph just the sweater.  It ended with tears/screams as she wanted to wear the sweater and was furious that I had taken it off. The only picture I managed was her hanging on to the sweater and demanding to get it back.

So I let her choose where I should take the picture, She wanted to sit on the sofa reading a book in her car sweater.

Pattern: I based the sweater loosely on this pattern (stitch count), but I made it a raglan and with different collar. I used the cars chart  from here on Ravelry.
Yarn: One strand Plötulopi (istex) and one strand Einband (istex).  I used less than one roll (plate) of the pink Plötulopi, and more than one skein of the pink Einband.  I needed very little of the blue Plötulopi and the Einband.

This was supposed to be a granny-chic cardigan for me. But after 6 months of hibernation I decided that I would never finish it and should rather use the yarn for something else. I have already made a pair of mittens. And I have a lot of yarn left.

Balaclava

I have bought two balaclavas for my daughter, and none of them have fit perfectly, one I can still return but the other one we had already started to use.  I gave up on the idea to find the perfect one in the stores so I decided to knit one.  And it was perfect on the first try, warm, soft and well fitting.

Yarn: Dale Baby Ull , color: 0007 (dye lot 5015),  little bit less then two skeins (maybe 95g)

I knitted with double strands of the "dale baby ull". 

Size:  1 year old (80 stitches cast on) ,  fits perfectly on my 2 year old

No I´m just considering whether I should embellish it or not. 

Update: it doesn´t fit so well anymore, got looser with wear.

Blue Nova

I´m happy with the Nova and better yet the owner of the dress loves it too.  Not possible to get many pictures though as she was busy running around.

And the best part is that I think I have enough yarn leftover for a sweater for the christmas girl that we are expecting.

I have however already bought more yarn for the next project and casted on last night.

Leftover Mittens

Took me one evening to knit these, the hardest job was to weave in the ends.

Happy little girl with her new mittens, was so excited to go to kindergarten that she did not have time to pose. 

I knitted the 1 year old size, and had several different yarn leftovers, most of it was though Sandnes smart yarn, the black might though be from Europris.   Only dissapointment was that they hardly used any of my leftover yarns.  I will need to knit more mittens for her, that will also not go with any of her winterclothes. But as I expect them to get lost/ruined this winter I really don´t care. I will make some cute ones to keep at home at some point. 

Project 11 - Orange butterfly

The sweater is a little big, but I decided to let her start use it.  There is nothing sweeter than knitting for someone who adores everything you knit, and refuses to take it off. 

Note to self:

-  4mm needles,
- cast on 120 stitches, knitted 3, purled 2 for 9 rounds.  Then I knitted 24 cm.
- Sleeves: cast on 35 stitches (knitted 3, purled 2 for 9 rounds).  Then I started to increase every 8th row 2 stitches  (one in the beginning of the row, one in the end of the row) until I had 41 stitches (3 times in total).
- do not decrease evenly with this yarn, as it shows,  use raglan decrease or some other organised method
- yarn: Debbie bliss rialto dk - burnt orange
- butterflies might be a big bigger (purled stitches)
