Simple mittens

I saw these mittens by Merete and decided to use the same pattern, and maybe embroider them. I haven´t embellished them yet, but they are already in use.

Yarn:  Dale baby wool (held double)
Pattern: Barnehagevotter
Needle: 2.5mm and 3 mm
Size:  1-2 year (length 3-4 years)

I have also finished the other Christmas dress, and was planning to take both dresses out for a walk tomorrow , and take some pictures, maybe on the beach or somewhere nice.. tired of ugly pictures. But since my older daughter is sick with Chicken Pox, there are at least 7-10 days of inside activities, and there are 90% chances that my younger daughter will get sick as well... there might be some time until it will be finished. In the meantime I have started another dress, but knitting time is limited these days.

Dejlige Danmark // Wonderful Denmark

We went last week on a trip "home" to Denmark, where we lived for 5 years. We took our girls with us, it was they´re first trip to denmark, and they both enjoyed it.

During our trip I knitted this neck-warmer

The embelishment is supposed to be a mouse, per request by the owner of this neck-warmer, who wanted her letter and a mouse. I was inspired by Merete to try to embellish with this chain stitch.

My 3 year old tasted "flødebolle" for the first time, and enjoyed it

She loved Odense zoo, and she and her "best friend in the whole world"  her own phrase , got to enjoy it together.

I only got the chance to visit one yarn store, I visited tante grøn in Odense, and bought Isaager yarn and the booklet  knit for your kid. I was with a screaming 8 month old with me, so really didn't get a chance to look around.  I´m a bit regretting the color choice, think the colors are to different, but there wasn´t much of a choice in colors, and I really wanted the pale pink in the alpakka.

My 8 month old, hated any store she entered, but loved being out and about and watching people. And I certainly can't resist those eyes so I made a quick decision and got out of the store as fast as I could.

Pattern : is from the book strikk til nøstebarn
Yarn: Dale baby wool, held double
notes: cast on fewer stitches (68), embellished with chainstitch
needles: 3.5mm
made for: my 3 year old

Pants

These pants were supposed to be ready before 17th of June, our Independence day, instead they were finished on the 18th...  they took forever to finish on 2.5 and 2 mm needles. But they are worth the effort, they can be used now and will hopefully fit through next winter as well.

I made several attempts to photograph the owner of the pants, but she just gives me this fake cry and smiling simultanously . But of course I pick her up for her efforts and she knows it works so this is the face I see very often.

Pattern:  Babystrik på pinde 3
Yarn: Dale baby wool
Needles: 2 and 2.5 mm
Modification:  cast on 144 stitches, no decreases after the belly-ribbing, before the ribbing at the bottom of the feet decrease in the last round to 52 stitches.  I made them longer than the stitch count for this width called for.
Notestoself: the belly ribbing might be tighter, and then maybe increase in the first round after the belly-ribbing.

More wardrobe updates

The pixiehat I made for my 2 1/2 year old had widened a lot so it was not that practicale to use any more (wind in ears).  I therefore decided to pick up stitches and knit pink-orange-neon edge to close the gap.. I debated to crochet .. but was more comfortable that knitting would give me a better looking result.

Doll Clothes

I´ve been planning to knit doll clothes for a while as my daughter´s doll clothes wardrobe is very minimal.
Finally got around to it after inspiration from tovrange

I did not use any pattern just eye-balled it , I knitted this from the bottom up, very similar to one of the pickles patterns (but probably very different method of getting the results). I used 2 strands of dale baby ull, and I have no idea of what needle size I used , I just grabbed some that seemed to do the trick.

I have already started on a doll cardigan. Since this is so quick to knit with double yarn I´m already having some more ideas on how to destash all the baby-yarn and make doll clothes. Next on the agenda are ribbed pants for the doll (should be able to fit more than one of her dolls).

Balaclava

I have bought two balaclavas for my daughter, and none of them have fit perfectly, one I can still return but the other one we had already started to use.  I gave up on the idea to find the perfect one in the stores so I decided to knit one.  And it was perfect on the first try, warm, soft and well fitting.

Yarn: Dale Baby Ull , color: 0007 (dye lot 5015),  little bit less then two skeins (maybe 95g)
I knitted with double strands of the "dale baby ull".
Size:  1 year old (80 stitches cast on) ,  fits perfectly on my 2 year old

No I´m just considering whether I should embellish it or not.

Update: it doesn´t fit so well anymore, got looser with wear.
